Sleep is becoming mainstream just like everything else. There are sleep experts believe it or not… That can exist only in modern society… Because why do you need instructions on how to sleep?
However, I do agree that sleep is very important. 7-8 hours of sleep, it is right amount, absolutely… Nothing is worse than when you had only 2-3 hours of sleep and long day is in front of you. That is just pure suffering.
But we cant live balanced life… It is artificial.. You will always have to sacrifice something…. But why sleep deprivation is a bad thing? To be chronically sleep deprived, that is something else… But to go few days with minimal amounts of sleep, why is that bad??? I am 100% sure that there is no great person on this planet that hasnt been sleep deprived in order to do great things. People get lost in their obsessions and they dont need sleep. They are so much engaged in creative process that they have unlimited energy… They can go on days without sleeping or sleeping only minimum to survive… And I believe that all great things happen and are achieved when you are tired and sleep deprived. Look at great people like Nikola Tesla and Leonardo da Vinci.. They were sleep deprived.. They were sleeping minimally.
I dont think it is good long-term strategy to be sleep deprived. But however, we human beings are created to be little tired, to be hungry, to feel rejected… We are created to be uncomfortable. We can survive that… We can overcome that.. We are more powerful than we realize… And we cannot know what we are if we are never tired, hungry and rejected.
Living balanced life is a problem. It is a trap and it is an artificial life. You have to be little extreme in order to get things done and to do great things. Balanced life is boring life. If you are trying to have balance all the time, you will get in defensive mode and you will become too careful, too timid, too small. You have go all-in in one direction to be alive.
